Scrap Our Stash September Sketch.

Today is an exciting day, not only do I get to share my Scrap Our Stash page but it's also my 30th birthday!! So I did a great twist on the challenge, and combined the two events!

Scrap Our Stash is a site/group that inspires you to use your stash and supplies. They do 2 challenges a month - one is a stash challenge (1st of the month) and one is a sketch challenge with a stash prompt (15th of the month).  The Design Team examples are shown everyday to inspire you to put together a great page!  To learn more you'll have to check out their site at http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com/

For this sketch and pick 3, I picked Azure, Buttons and Crate Paper.

So like I said earlier, today is my birthday! I was super excited right when I became a member of SOS and find out my reveal would be on the 24th of every month. I was sneaky and knew that would fall right on my birthday! Right when they presented the challenge, I went right to work on making this a page that would be throwback to my 29th birthday! I also love this challenge because one of the options was Crate Paper- I automatically knew that would be the one I'd choose off the list! I have a ton of Crate Paper scraps - especially in the pink color that's in my shirt!  This page turned out just fabulous and I love how everything worked out perfectly!

I hope you all come join us at Scrap Our Stash- connect your page to our challenges and have a chance to win the prize as well as be featured on our site!  Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some celebrating to do!!!

Scrap Our Stash September Stash.

Here I am at the beginning of the month with my example of the first challenge!!

At this time of the year, this was the perfect inspiration! Everyone is heading back to school and all the craziness is usually captured on film in some form. Being I don't have kids, and no- I don't want to scrap my crazy past school photos. ( No one wants to see that! )  So - I waited til my favorite two little kiddos went to school! My niece and nephew live on the east coast ( as I always tell you! ) but my sister always keeps us in the loop- so I knew this would be a jackpot shot I needed for this challenge!

I used Dear Lizzy's Saturday collection which has an adventurous theme. I fussy cut one of her sheets of paper that had the buildings on it using it as a bottom boarder. Then building on top of that with the photo and embellishments. How perfect that it had backpacks, glasses, and apples!  Okay, that stuff reminds me of school! They live in a big town, granted  they don't take the taxi to school; but how could I not add that to the bottom of the page.  I also added some embellishments that were on a ledger/number paper to meet that detail of the challenge to my cluster on the one side of the picture.

I can't wait to see your guys' take on this first challenge of the month!!  I also encourage everyone to join us at Scrap Our Stash (link @ top) - top picks could win a prize and a badge for your blog!

Scrap Our Stash August Sketch.

It's the 24th of the month which means it's my turn to show you my layout based on the August Sketch!  I know I say it every month- but seriously, this month's sketch is a personal favorite! I've been excited to show you also what I came up with!!

With my layout I chose 3 Various Mfgs ( Manufacturers ), washi tape and the letter X.

I decided to scrapbook this awesome picture of my nephew, Alex. How cool does he look in his catcher gear? He's 8 but I swear, I see him as a varsity 18 year old already. QUIT GROWING PLEASE!  I knew that the new Cool Kid line by Crate Paper would be perfect for this page! I found some other papers in my stash that worked well with the collection. I always love watching my stash shrink down- too bad it wasn't faster.  My favorite part of this layout is the picture itself. Instead of using three separate pictures, I thought it would be a great variation to just divide up the picture! I just love this page so much! I love scrapbooking my sweet nephew - even with him being far away, his mom does a great job of making us feel like we're right there with them. Makes my heart so happy.

I hope this page inspired you to take a shot at our challenges over at Scrap Our Stash! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Scrap Our Stash August Stash.

For some reason this post didn't post on August 10th. I apologize for this inconvenience.

I'm excited to show you this month's first challenge for Scrap Our Stash!

For the first challenge, you are to be inspired by a chosen book cover. And this month's cover threw me for a loop. I haven't traveled in a while and with the pictures I have from traveling, I've already scrapped them recently. Gosh, what am I going to do? But while flipping through my papers, I came across  a perfect map in vibrant colors that I had to use.  Which happened to match Fancy Free perfectly, I think I need to put that line away by the way. I have scrapped so much with it. I swear, I'll get to my regularly scheduled lines soon.   Also I had to include a decorative paper clip- now that part- I also realize I have very little selection of paper clips! ( You'll see it's almost not noticeable.)

This page inspired me to scrap the picture of an Old Stone Church that is literally in the middle of nowhere in north east Iowa. It's a very special place to me, everytime I go - I'm literally taken back by how simple and how peaceful it is. Not only that, but one of my great great grandfather's was the stonesman for the construction of this church.  Some of my family members are also buried in the small cemetery by the church. It's my happy place.  I can't wait to be married there someday.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with based on this challenge!

Scrap Our Stash July Sketch.

I'm here again with this month's second scrap our stash challenge!!

Isn't this a great sketch? My only problem was the lists- they provided me with a serious challenge. Gotta dig around in my scraps especially with the photos I have to scrap! I picked Sangria, Timberwolf, and uniball pen. I'm hoping I did the challenge some decent try.

Thought I'd show you some close ups of the page. Show you some of the small details.

I loved these two photos of Sienna and I. Seriously, I can't get enough of her and playing outdoors- I've been utilizing it at all opportunities. She's proven to be such a good girl and I'm such a proud puppy aunt.  I also thought these pictures would  go perfect with Illustrated Faith- She Blooms line. Being I don't have any embellishments for the line, I fussy cut up a storm to create some added pieces to the page.

I hope you enjoyed my page for this challenge! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with- join us at Scrap Our Stash's blog and enter your page!! You'll have an opportunity to win a great prize :)

Scrap Our Stash July Stash.

I'm so excited to tell you all that I am continuing my journey with Scrap Our Stash. I've been asked to continue on the team for a second term and I couldn't say no to that! It's a wonderful team, positive ladies and awesome challenges. I'm honored! Thank you again!!

I love this month's cover- but then again, when do I not? But seriously- the circles- the colors. All of it! I wanted to layer my circles to kind of look like the circles on the cover.   In my head- the cover of the book looked slightly different so we'll pretend they are layered more on the cover.  I used up some more of the scraps I had - with choosing the colors of aqua spectrum.  I was digging around in my stash- where I realized that the Crate Paper Journey line had a lot of the aqua I was going for. So it felt good to use up that collection as well!

I've already wrote about the race this photo is from. But I hadn't done a scrapbook page about it- I thought it was perfect for this page. I was able to trace around it while fitting everything in it so I could use it on one of the layers of circles. Crate Paper Journey also fit well with the running theme. Life is a journey and this is definitely a moment I wanted to capture. Getting third place honestly? Will probably not happen again- its an opportunity to get to experience it. Thank god for small races!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with from this challenge! It's such a fun cover- you should all give it a try! Don't forget to come back later this month to see the sketch challenge!!

Scrap Our Stash June Sketch.

This month's sketch is very fun! It's a great way to use multiple papers in your stash up in one layout! So that's exactly what I did! I love seeing my stash dwindle down. For the lists- I picked polka dots, Quartz, and rub ons!

I thought this sketch was perfect for the multiple photos I took from a family day outside! All the family enjoyed the nice summer weather- the cat and the dog in the same area- don't say that is true! It's just been an enjoyable summer already with all the opportunities to take Sienna out to run around. Can't wait to see what else this summer holds for us all. Also with all the fun photos - I thought Pibk Paislee's Fancy Free was perfect! The fun bright colors just screams summer!

I just loved this challenge by SOS- and I hope you join us and link up your page for a chance to win a awesome prize!

Scrap Our Stash June Stash.

Gosh, sometimes life just gets in the way and interrupts what I'm trying to get done. I'm sorry I have had mix ups with other things but I'm here a few days later with my Scrap Our Stash June Stash post!

I just thought this inspiration was perfect for the month of June. Father's Day is coming up and it's a great way to feature those daddys in our lives.  Although the props of yellow- that definitely was part of a challenge for me- it's one of those colors I don't use a whole lot in scrapbooking!

I was excited though to be able to use a few of my scraps ( which include yellow! ) from what was left from other pages to mix them up and create this page I have for you this month!

This month's challenge worked perfectly for me because I have taken so many pictures of my father lately! We've been a little gutsy lately with taking our dog Sienna out on many adventures. When we first got her, she loved to escape her kennel and run run run. So we've been so nervous to let her out without a leash, but we took a chance on life and let her out. I think now she's realized this is home or maybe there's something about having her grandpa- my father- around but she's been so well behaved while we play outside. So she's been having many adventures lately and being my father and her are two peas in a pod- many of the pictures I've taken had my dad in them.  I'm glad I've was able to catch and document them as their relationship is truly priceless.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with for this challenge! Remember to post them by the end of the month at http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com for a chance to win a prize!!

Scrap Our Stash May Sketch.

Here I am with Scrap Our Stash's 2nd challenge of May!

I loved this sketch and the three lists. All of them presented a challenge that I was ready to tackle. I didn't have much of any of the things so I definitely had to do some digging around!

From the lists I chose Metal, Newsprint, and Overlay.   I loved how well this overlay from Pink Paislee's Cedar Lane went with Simple Stores Life Documented. I know, I know- I need to be using my stash but I just couldn't wait to dive in to my new papers!

A few weeks ago my dad and I decided to let our sweet pup Sienna run around the yard without a leash which is a bit crazy of us. (She loves to run- and her coming back when she's called, varies in what is in it for her. ) But lately, she's been a very good puppy so we took a chance on life to let her go bat crazy in our big back yard. She had such a great day chasing the balls and getting family cuddles from everyone.  She's such a grandpa's girl and stayed within radius all day. So we've spoiled her a few times since. I know it sounds a bit weird- but its a great achievement for our dear girl.  With all the the excitement, I was able to capture a few good pictures of the crazy pair together.

I hope that I inspired you to take on this challenge, there's so many great things in there that I can't wait to see what you all put together!!!

Scrap Our Stash May Stash.

It's a new month which means new challenges at Scrap Our Stash!

The stash challenge this month was based on this great inspiration.

Okay- how gorgeous is that cover?? There's so many ideas that were floating in my head but I finally decided upon using the ombré sky as my inspiration.  I know it's not really busting through my stash but I was so excited to finally have my paws on some Fancy Free by Pink Paislee/Paige Evans. I have followed Paige Evans for so long and love her work so much!

The pinks in her collection worked perfectly! I cut a couple strips of the different pink in her paper - held them together and cut little strips along the edge ( remember not to cut all the way across - you need a little space at the top to glue it down ) to create this fringe - then layered to create the ombré look.  Also you needed to include flowers- ahh, the flowers in this line worked perfectly!

My sister recently came home to run with me in the latest race which I have a recap coming for. It's always exciting when she comes home- but I am not sure if anyone gets more excited than my cat Pumpkin. He is so infatuated with her , I'm not sure what it is- her voice she uses with him or the fact he knows she's extremely allergic to him.  So he tries to sneak up around her - I had to capture pictures of this bizarre relationship. Now that she's gone- he's sleeps in the bed she was in or the couch. Just soaking up all the Aunt Stephy he can.

Hope you guys join us at Scrap Our  Stash and try the challenge! Also- I'll be back in the middle of the month with the sketch challenge.

Scrap our Stash April Sketch.

Let me show you April's Sketch + 3 Challenge!

I just loved the sketch and thought the list of items to choose from were unique. I usually don't work with much of any of them! So of course, it was a challenge!  I picked a journal card; which now I look back at it - maybe I should have journaled on the card ... hence the purpose it serves instead of on the paper where you can barely read it. Anyways- also kraft - I'm hoping my tags work with the kraft- I didn't have really any of the other two on the list. And when I saw this paper I had stored in my stash- I thought- why not- lets give it a go on the lavender. Am I the only one that notices that purple is not given the proper attention it deserves in the scrapbooking world!?

If you haven't already noticed, I'm kind of a selfie queen. Snapchat made it much worse. But it was part of a great day, since I've moved home... and all that mumbo jumbo- I enjoy taking "Renee Days".  On a day off from work, just go somewhere in my car- do all the things that make me happy. Just savor time by myself. I end up taking crazy selfies along my day and make it a snapchat story.  The last one was just perfect weather- felt just like summer. It's been above normal spring temperatures here- and I've been no doubt savoring it for both running and shopping.  I love how this layout turned out- the colors, the sketch- just worked perfectly!

Hope you take the time to join us at Scrap Our Stash and take a chance on this challenge! I think it's a real doozy and made me actually use my brain. Now that means- it has to be good right??  Also don't forget to link-up there to have a chance to win the month prize!!

Sister Love.

I am here today with the first challenge in the month of April. Our stash challenge this month is based off of this book cover and including 2 or more clouds!!   I just had the perfect cut file of a cloud that I haven't used yet so I was so excited to include it in this page.  I also loved the way the clouds were layered on the book cover so I decided to do some layering of the clouds on my page as well!

I finally figured out what picture I wanted to use - one of me and my sweet sister from my high school graduation. Oh, to be that skinny again ;) Anyways- but I absolutely love this picture of us.  For the page, I decided to use the Hello Love line by Crate Paper.  I just love this line!  I cut apart pieces of it and backed the cloud then traced the shapes of the cloud onto other papers.

I added bundles of thread behind pieces of the embellishments- I just love this technique that I've learnt from the fabulous Missy Whidden.  I also included some gray watercolor around the clouds and splattered bits of it around the whole page.

I have been hoarding this collection- like all the ... stuff I have. Haha! But I thought it was so adorable -I just haven't had any love or valentines pictures to use.  I just loved the colors and it would be perfect for the white/pastels that me and my sister are wearing. Also, it dawned on me that there just isn't any love like a sister love.  My sister is absolutely the best, I don't even know how to explain how much she means to me. She just gets me in a way that no one else does. She's been my biggest supporter but isn't afraid to tell me how it is.  Shes the best example of someone going after their dreams and having it all.  I couldn't imagine my world without her in it.

How perfect for this layout to fall on National Sibling Day.

I can't wait to see what you all create inspired by the Scrap Our Stash Challenge and my Sister Love layout.   Also stick around- the middle of the month- we have a fabulous sketch waiting for you to give a hand at!

Here I am with the second challenge of March. The Sketch + 3!  From this selection - I chose gold, hot pink, and ink. ( Shocking right?? )

I really wanted to capture this selfie I had of myself from when I got my hair cut. I swear my hairstylist does it in a way I can never recreate so I  always try to get a few selfies before it falls apart on me. I tried to mix together some of the newest lines that I have been loving which wasn't too hard as they seem to mesh well together.  I hope you enjoy this page!! :)

Scrap Our Stash March Stash.

I am finding that I love to re-do my pages that I'm upset about. I always before just accepted that the page sucks and kept it how it was.  One page that stuck out in my mind of one I wanted to redo- was a page I did of my family. I did it fast and got the paper wet. It just was a hot mess I thought... but I kept at it for the challenge I was participating in.

So in comes my trusty Scrap Our Stash to the rescue, seriously- the right time for the perfect challenge for this picture!

This month we were to find inspiration with this gorgeous book cover and use gold embellishments or/and alphas.  Okay- this was screaming Renee right? We all know I love me some pink and gold. This wouldn't be a hard task at all. BRING IT ON :)

I found these colors were in one of my new favorite collections- Better Together by Amy Tangerine. I had to use it with my family picture.  I used also various scraps I had that also had some of the colors in it... as well as some that weren't.

Its been a while since we've had a picture together, even though we are missing my sister's husband. But I had to scrapbook this picture for that reason. They are my world, I adore them beyond words. They are my saving grace, my best friends and the loves of my life. We may bicker to no end as we are so similiar in the weirdest ways.. as most families are.. but we love so hard.  We are truly Better Together.

I hope you all go to Scrap Our Stash and take a hit at the first challenge of this month! Also, come back later this month for my take on the second challenge for March!!

Scrap Our Stash Sketch Feb

I'm so excited because it's the 24th of the month which means I get to finally show my take on this month's sketch + 3 challenge. I loved putting together this page so much and hope to inspire you with it!

Scrap Our Stash is a site/group that inspires you to use your stash and supplies. They do 2 challenges a month- one is a stash challenge ( 1st of the month ) and one is a sketch challenge with a stash prompt (15th of the month). The Design Team examples are shown everyday to inspire you to put together a great page!! To learn more you'll have to check out their site at http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com.

Here's this month's Sketch + 3 Challenge :

And here is my take on the challenge - I used doily, ephemera, and flair.

I loved working with this sketch, made me think in ways to utilize it without having multiple coordinating pictures. I used the space to provide a spot for my journaling about my sweet babies.

I don't mean to get emotional but I miss them everyday, it's the hardest part of seperating from a relationship is losing the innocent parts that had nothing to do with any of it. I always have moments where I forget they aren't around and wish they were there. They were so cuddly and loving. Also so goofy and smart. We couldn't have picked out two more perfect kittens, just wish I was able to be around them each day.  Lately, I've been scrapping pictures of them as a therapeutic way to hopefully heal my soul.

The best part of these challenges is watching my stash dwindle down. So helpful to piece together items I wouldn't have thought to use together but look perfect together in the end.

Come join us at Scrap Our Stash; I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Scrap Our Stash Stash Feb.

It's the 10th of the month so it's my turn with my take on this month's Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash.

This month we were to make a page using our stash based on this book cover and include two hearts.

This is my take on the challenge!!

I was inspired by the rays in the background of the cover. So I used stencil that was similar to the background rays to cut out different scraps I had left from a SMASH book I ripped apart.  I knew I wanted to document the first apartment I had with my past relationship because it was down right craziness.

I can't even begin to explain all the things that went wrong- between illegal actions by neighbors, leaky light fixtures- yes, no mistype in that. But it was still perfect in the weirdest ways and we bonded over the silliest things. I will never forget it, that's for sure.

For embellishments I included crazy things I was able to cut out from other pages of the book, it fit perfectly. Also was able to add some Dear Lizzy stickers I had in my stash I never thought I'd be able to use about homes/houses. Which was a perfect fit for this page!  I know this layout is a bit all over the place but I enjoyed the mess and got to use a lot of my stash!!

Hope I inspired you to get a little crazy with my interpretation of the challenge!!

Scrap Our Stash Sketch Jan.

Here I am again with the second challenge of the month for Scrap Our Stash!

The second challenge of the month is to use/or be inspired by this sketch. Then pick one out of each column for your stash prompt.

This sketch was perfect for these 3 sleep poses of my sweet Blaize.  He loved sleeping on the radiator in living room as long as his favorite blanket was on top of it. ( Mind you, the radiator isn't on.)  I wish I knew what was going on in his crazy little head but he made the most adorable poses while he slept that day.  He was such a tiny little kitten.

Also the stash prompts were great for using up my endless amount of ...supplies I have hoarded! From the first column, I used American Crafts - the papers are from Amy Tangerine and Crate Paper. I chose blue from the second column- it went perfect with the blanket in the photos.  In the third column, I selected chipboard- the embellishments are from Crate Paper's Wonder line. Its just great to see what goes together when you wouldn't have thought of it before the prompts.

We would love for you to join us at Scrap Our Stash and take part in the challenge!!  You have until January 29th at 11:59 PST to link up your page!! I can't wait to see what you all do!!   If you complete each challenge, you get two chances to win the monthly prize. The prize winners are selected by Random.org and the TOP 3 are selected by the Design Team.  One of the TOP 3 will be offered a Guest Designer Position! :)

*Remember to read the Challenge Guidelines- if your entry linked doesn't follow the challenge requirements, it will be disqualified.*

Scrap Our Stash Stash Jan.

As I announced back in December, I'm now a part of the Scrap Our Stash Design Team!!

For the stash challenge this month - we want you to create a layout inspired by the cover of this book. You could use anything on it to inspire you whether it's the snow, the colors, the cat or even the title. Also you must include white paint or paint splatters on your layout.

I used the "cat in the hat" as my inspiration. Yes, I'm that cat mom who has to humiliate their cat in embarrassing outfits. I placed a pair of rudolph ears on the boy and told him to meow "Merry Christmas".  He's clearly not pleased with the situation but who said holidays don't come with moments of grin and bear it?  I also included splattered white mist but of course, it doesn't show in the picture except for where I accidentally got it on the picture. So I added more to the picture to make the "snowing" effect.  Life hands you accidental splatters, you make snowstorms.

(I used Pinkfresh Studios' Christmas Line also embellishments from MAMBI.)

We would love for you to join us at Scrap Our Stash and take part in the challenge!!  You have until January 29th at 11:59 PST to link up your page!! I can't wait to see what you all do!!  Also, I'll be back on the 24th of this month with the sketch challenge!
